Prism Award to Traffic for realistic depiction 04/05/2001 Associated Press LOS ANGELES Traffic, the gritty docudrama about drug trafficking, was honored Wednesday with a Prism Award for offering the most realistic portrayal of drug, alcohol or tobacco use of any theatrical film this past year. Traffic also raked in four Oscars at last month's Academy Awards, including statues for best director Steven Soderbergh and best supporting actor Benicio Del Toro. The Prism awards are given to members of the television, feature film and comic book entertainment industries for their accurate depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction. Wednesday's fifth annual awards program included hosts Jamie Lee Curtis and Richard Lewis, who starred together in the sitcom Anything But Love. The awards are presented by the Entertainment Industries Council Inc. in partnership with The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse/National Institutes of Health. The program was taped for national syndication by Tribune Entertainment and is scheduled to air in August.
